I have recently reformatted my machine and it turns out that the truly flakey MacPorts has let me down with sshfs. Having tried to install it this morning I have a revised method for getting it to work.
- Google SSHFS for Mac (yes really)
- Go to the official website for the sofware and download the stable versions of both fuse and sshfs
- Install fuse, then sshfs as you would any other package
- There is no step 4
The one difference between sshfs for Mac and Linux is the unmount command. In Linux you would use
fusermount -u MOUNT_POINT, but in OSX you need to use the native
umount MOUNT_POINT - that was not immediately obvious.
That is all, just posted to save myself a few minutes next time.
